“You wouldn’t worry so much about what others think of you if you realised how seldom they do.”
–Eleanor Roosevelt
Oh my goodness, isn’t this quote freeing?!
I have a sign off at the bottom of my personal emails and I put in it my favourite quote of the week. This quote has been there for about 3 months.
Not because I haven’t bothered to change it but more because I just love this quote and what it says and does.
I know you’ll know this but we as women care, fret, worry, chew over, second guess, discuss, cogitate etc about what people think about us all the time. When – in truth – they’re rarely thinking about us at all!
What if you cared FAR more about what you think and what you’re doing and saying than second guessing about what everyone else is thinking about you. Because – ha! For the most part they’re not thinking about you at all.
Now you might consider this to be hurtful as a concept.
Don’t. It’s not worth it.
It’s factual and it’s freeing.
Every time I share this quote with someone they nod with acknowledgement and give a wry smile. It bears repeating..
“You wouldn’t worry so much about what others think of you if you realised
how seldom they do.”
–Eleanor Roosevelt
If you have a tendency to do this, to worry about what people will think of you after an event or before or during…remember, chances are they’re far more concerned about their own impressions and performances than they ever are about yours.
I just wish I’d learned this years ago – what a lot of fretting and second guessing time and energy I’d have saved myself…🙄
Or in someone else’s words…again…

On 27th November I’m hosting an event on behalf of the Livery Company I’m part of. The Worshipful Company of Insurers. It’s called YOUR Year End Review and I’m guiding the participants through a process I’ve used for years to set myself and my clients up for success in the year to come.
Reviewing the year just finishing (2024) tells you so much and it’s easy to skip over. Here are the details if you’d like to join us! It’s live and in person and includes drinking and nibbles. What’s not to love?!
