In 2019 I to-ed and fro-ed about paying (through the nose if felt) to go to see the band Foo Fighters live in concert.
They’re based in California but were playing live at the Olympic Stadium in London which, at the time, we lived about 20 minutes away from.
My nephew Fraser was up for coming with his Aunty 🥰 as Snowy couldn’t think of anything worse.
I didn’t go for the tickets.
So, I still haven’t seen Foo Fighters live, even though I love their music, their story, the characters and the energy they bring.
Life changed.
- Covid closed us down.
- Fraser moved to Prague in the Czech Republic
- We moved to the Suffolk countryside
- and the drummer of Foo Fighters – Taylor Hawkins – suddenly died in March 2022.
Taylor was one of my drumming heroes. I’ve always loved the backbeat and the drummer in the band has always caught my eye.
Having drumming lessons, my teacher Neil and I used to watch videos of Foo Fighters and Taylor playing and then I’d have a go, even daring myself to play in a live rock band as a guest drummer…
So when I saw they were in London again performing this year, in 2 weeks in fact, at the same venue with their new drummer …I just bit the bullet and booked.
Our nephew-in-law is coming with me and I am half-excited and half-horrified about going to a concert with about 80,000 fans.
As a country bumpkin these days, that feels a LOT of people.
Didn’t used to feel that way back in the day when I went to concerts a lot, even Live Aid…but it does now… 😳
This note isn’t to impress you in any way it’s to encourage you to maybe go and jump in the first time.
So much can change so quickly and …you can’t deal backwards as Snowy always says and can only move forwards.
Thinking about how much has changed and how that opportunity went, I’m going to enjoy it all and be grateful I’m there…with 80,000 of my closest friends!
A final word on the matter…

“I make a living playing rock ‘n roll. I’m not going to complain about anything.”
~ Taylor Hawkins

Our roses have suddenly burst into life. The ‘rose roundabout,’ as we call it, is the first thing you see when you come in to or leave our home and it always makes me smile 🥰
